This piece was folded from a single sheet of paper – 14ft. long and 3 ft wide. Several cuts were made into the sheet, dividing it into squares with the corners left uncut. The squares were then folded to create a flower pattern; like a cluster of blossoms from a single seed…
The company moved to its new location in the summer, and since then gained more employees and more projects. In mid-November 2018 the company held its opening party, during the time which my artwork was hung at the entrance corridor of the office. It was a very snowy day; but despite so, the party had a surprisingly high turn-out, with guests multiplying like the flowers on a cherry blossom tree – A beautiful way to end 2018 for dkstudio; with new beginnings yet to come as the blossoms return every year.
In 2022 'From a Single Sheed' was displayed at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre as part of the exhibition 'Origami - The Art of Paper Folding' featuring the works of Miya Turnbull and Mui-Ling Teh.
