"Sunrise Through Fresh Eyes" was initially titled "Sunset with Blue Trees" until it found new meaning towards the end of 2019. Full story here

"Red String of Fate" by Mui-Ling Teh

"Red String of Fate" is based on a Chinese myth that the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women destined to be soul mates. This myth has also been adapted into other East Asian cultures.

Each heart was folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper, and the image was photographed with an Olympus FE-340.

"Wish" by Mui-Ling Teh

In the Japanese art of paper folding, the paper crane is a common symbol of peace and good luck. It is also believed that if one folds a thousand paper cranes, their wish would come true. Combining this concept with the western culture of making wishes while blowing dandelions, I created the piece called "Wish", depicting blown dandelion seeds as miniature paper cranes.

The paper crane dandelion is made of a straw with a cluster of miniature origami cranes at the tip. The background is my computer screen with the paper crane ‘seeds’ taped to it. "Wish" was also photographed with an Olympus FE-340.

Freedom - $500 (sold)
14.5" x 11.25"

*This piece has been sold but a smaller version is also available below.

Freedom was a concept I developed in 2010, and in 2014 I recreated a framed version if it. The creation of 'Freedom' was a very delicate process, as it involved folding out of cut squares with only a corner of those squares still attached to the paper. While folding the cranes I had to be very careful not to rip them off the paper; and with 8 cranes to fold, if anything ripped off towards completion, all the work would have been wasted.

After completing all the cranes, the frame was modified. Though unnoticeable in photo, space was created between the white paper and the black paper in the back to create a greater sense of depth.

Freedom (small version)- $100
